HOT ATHLETES: D&G’s Boxers
One of my favourite ad campaigns has been the Italian ones from Dolce & Gabbana which systematically feature that country’s male sports teams, in just their boxers of course. Now I’ve always interpreted this as “Dolce Gay Bagna” (or “Sweet Gay Baths”) because I imagined these guys hanging out in an Italian bathhouse. First there was the Italian soccer team, the one that won the World Cup, and then the Italian swim team, but who cares what they won since they’re so cute anyway. You can see these in the D&G category I’ve added. So, I was pretty interested to learn that they are now featuring Italian boxers (in their boxers, get it?), but not in the baths, but in the actual store! Well, but did they realize what would happen when they weighed in nude?! They all got hard seeing each other, but strangely, no one else seemed to notice.
This reminds me of a conversation I recently overheard at the gym between a couple of wrestlers talking about an upcoming weigh-in. One said, you have to do this naked, and the other said “Sweet”. Now, unless I’m missing something, I thought I should be the one realizing how sweet that would be, assuming they’d let me be there. Actually I don’t know how common that is, but it got my fantasy going about a whole team of hunky wrestlers weighing in and showing off their bods to each other. But, back to Italy, where the bizarre scene might have looked like this.
